Bango handcuffs are believed to have been invented in the mid-1800s. They were particularly effective for violent prisoners as they didn’t allow prisoners much movement. They allowed prisoners to eat and perform other necessities, but that was about it. The ratchet-style, adjustable handcuffs we all know today didn’t come along until later. However, the Italian police, the “Carabinieri Reali“, continued using this form of handcuff for prisoner transport into the 1980s.
Our standard version will fit most people, unless you have particularly large wrists. If that’s the case, then please order the larger version.
We supply ours with two locking nuts. The larger one screws down and holds the top bar in place. The smaller one isn’t strictly necessary but can be used beneath the bar to stop it pressing tighter than intended.
These cuffs aren’t escape-proof, so do keep a close eye on your ouchee if they are a bit of a Houdini. However, it wouldn’t be hard for you to modify them to be so if desired.
